A year ago, at the age of 47 Leanne had never even heard of Myeloma, but when she finally found out that this was a rare form of blood cancer she soon came to realise just how serious it was. Thankfully Leanne was covered with her Trauma insurance.

Over the last 15 years both Peter and his wife Narelle had made a few small claims on their Income protection insurance, but on the night of November 26th 2008 following a seizure, Peter’s life changed forever. The next day Peter had a CT Scan which showed a 5cm mass, it was in the speech, movement and sight of his brain. Peter underwent emergency surgery; however this did not go well as only 40% of the tumour could be removed. At this crucial time for the family, Peter’s adviser visited the family at the hospital and assisted with the completion of the claim forms, collection of medical information and also arranged for the insurer to release a lump sum of $10,000 to assist financially as Peter’s ability to earn an income ceased on the night of 26th November. The last fifteen months have been very hard emotionally and financially. With the lump sum payment from the Trauma cover and the regular monthly income from Peter’s Income Protection policy this has enabled us to survive financially and also get the best medical treatment for Peter. Dr Charlie Teo, Australia’s leading Neurosurgeon has been able to give Peter extended life and financially we would have had to sell the family home if it wasn’t for the Trauma payout and the advice that our adviser has given to us over the last 15 years.
